The opening of the newest and largest museum in the state of Maine, built by Consigli and designed by Frederick Fisher and Partners, was featured <\/i>in Design New England<\/i>. The $15 million, 26,000 square-foot addition to Colby College\u2019s Museum of Art houses 500 works of art, worth nearly $100 million. This new addition has created \u201cthe best academic museum in the country\u201d, according to Colby College President, William D. Adams.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The new Alfond-Lunder Family Pavilion, clad in a unique glass curtain wall system, is LEED Silver certified by the U.S. Green Building Council and provides space for exhibitions, studios, classrooms, art storage and offices.\u00a0 Peter Lunder, the philanthropist whose bequest made the museum\u2019s expansion possible, said he hoped it will one day become \u201ca destination, the Clark Art Institute of Maine\u201d \u2013 another museum building that Consigli has renovated.<\/p>\n
