]]> Consigli recently acknowledged National Women in Apprenticeship Day. Women make up only 6% of all apprentices, and only 3% in high-wage fields like construction. Apprenticeships provide an opportunity to increase financial security for women and their families. This day highlights the importance of diversity in the workforce, ensuring that women have equal opportunities in nontraditional careers, and encouraging more women to join the trades.  We talked to women working in apprenticeships on our jobsite at WPI where we are building a new Academic and Research Facility and at our Cambridge Housing Authority project where we are revitalizing the Miller River apartments on what being in an apprenticeship means to them.  Some of these women also gave advice to other women looking to get into the trades.
