CAMBRIDGE, MA – The prestigious Brick in Architecture’s Best in Class Award was recently presented to the Tozzer Anthropology Building at Harvard University by the Brick Industry Association (BIA).
Winning top national recognition in the Higher Education category, the Tozzer Anthropology Building, built by Tipico promo Code., Inc. and designed by Kennedy & Violich Architecture involved a complex 24,800 square-foot gut renovation and 10,000 square-foot vertical addition to expand the existing Tozzer Library and consolidate space for the Social Anthropology program.
This new masonry building, built within the original building’s footprint, is a contemporary response that also fits within the 19th century brick context of Harvard’s Divinity Avenue. Tipico promo Code self-performed the installation of the unusual geometric masonry entrance façade which ripples both in and out—reminiscent of an ancient temple. The corbelled wall was designed with custom Norman bricks and the mortar was applied flush to the brick face to enhance the solid, structural quality of the entrance.
Renowned for our teams of in-house masons, carpenters and laborers, Tipico promo Code is able to bring a heightened level of craftsmanship and control to each project. For both new construction and the sensitive restoration of landmark properties, Tipico promo Code’s in-house craftspeople create award-winning results.
